Kenmore Presbyterian Church

Kenmore Presbyterian Church is a new and growing church in the inner Western Suburbs of Brisbane. We started in January 2006 with 18-20 adults and a number of children and have grown from there. Today, as well as Sunday morning church we run seven home groups with around sixty adults involved. Meanwhile we have started a Night Church in a second venue and it is small, but growing too. It is our hope to be able to plant a second morning congregation soon, and so we are on the look-out for a full-time person to join us with a view to planting again. Contact steve@kenmore.org.au for more information.

BROWNS PLAINS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH - Suburban, Southside - 2009

Ozzieministries / Browns Plains Presbyterian Church is a well established work in suburban Brisbane. The Minister, Danny Mihailovioc, says that the ministry will plateau both numerically and spiritually if left as is. The emphasis has been a strong preaching ministry over the last twenty years. However, much work is needed on the inter-relational aspect of the “Body”. Home group ministry is in place but only just at this point in time. Outreach is minimal other than opportunities given through our social network and activities throughout the year. In addition to this, Jimboomba also is a growing area and we should be in there now with a home group network with the view to a future church plant. Therefore the Brown’s Plains ministry plan to address these challenges involves the appointment of an Assistant Pastor. The church is looking for a young family man capable of moving to ordination as a Presbyterian Minister. He must be prepared for a long Term ministry to transition present ministry over the next 5-10 years. He needs to have a passion for preaching sound doctrine - expository preaching with a healthy emphasis on practical application. He must be innovative and able to work in a team ministry and under the jurisdiction of a senior minister over the transition time. Reformed position theologically is essential, yet radical enough to try new ministries amongst unchurched people. Must be mission minded both locally and internationally. In this context, the Assistant Pastor will have the responsibility to share the preaching/teaching load with the Senior Minister, help to promote and develop Home Group ministry with the elders, share the pastoral responsibilities of the church, work with the Ministry team in cultivating an outreach mentality by looking for ways to build bridges with the community, set up community based projects that can establish good contacts and evangelism (Team Ministry Context), develop the youth ministry with the help of existing volunteer leaders (most probably an extension of the “Team Ministry” concept), train various people for leadership roles and be involved in future church plant at Jimboomba. This position is well-suited to an SMBC or Moore graduate studying part-time at Queensland Theological College (QTC) at St Lucia to become an ordained Presbyterian Minister. Manly Presbyterian Church – Eastern Suburban Brisbane, Southside

Manly Presbyterian Church meets in its own building at 137 Oceana Terrace, Manly, which overlooks Moreton Bay and the Manly Harbour, a marina crowded with yachts and quality eateries. Manly is renowned for its relaxed bay-side atmosphere. About 17 kilometres from the Brisbane Central Business District, Manly is very much a family area. There are good bike and walkways, a community swimming pool and a seawater wading pool. In the summer, outdoor activities such as canoeing and rollerblading are also very popular. Many Brisbane people spend time in this waterfront precinct. Manly Presbyterian Church is in the Mowbray Presbytery and the Pastor would receive good fellowship and support from the other Pastors and Ministers of the Presbytery and Qld’s Ministry Training Network. A Minister from another church in the Presbytery would be appointed to directly support the HM Pastor and be chairman (Moderator) of the Elder’s meeting (Session). The HM Pastor’s position at Manly-Lota Presbyterian Church is well-suited to an SMBC or Moore graduate studying part-time at Queensland Theological College (QTC) at St Lucia to become an ordained Presbyterian Minister. There is quick access to QTC via Manly Road, Wynnum Road, Captain Cook Bridge and Coronation Drive. The total salary package would be a full HM Pastor’s stipend including an Expense-Payment Fringe Benefit calculated for those cases where the HM Pastor rents (or purchases) his own housing (see brochure “The Mission Field at Home”).
